Make uTorrent Faster
If you are a uTorrent user I advise you to disable Distributed Hash Table (DHT).
- You’re losing speed by having it enabled.
- Also flooding your connection with random ghost connections.
- It’s one more option to change, not difficult.

Happy 50th anniversary Motown Records!
Back when Detroit, Michigan was a thriving automotive industry child people referred to the city as “Detroit Rock City” or “The Motor City”
It was on this day way back in 1959 when Mr. Berry Gordy started Tamla Motown records which eventually turned into ‘Motown Records’. Thereafter the nickname “Motown” stuck which is now historically priceless to Detroit in so many ways. It’s something that I am really glad to be a part of despite whatever bad things people think about Detroit.
Happy 50th Birthday Motown!

Support Open Media
Okay with the music industry in shambles, I would like to offer some hope for media formats. So read below and if you’re not careful you might just learn something! :)
Are you tired of constantly being prompted to download proprietary software and plugins to play the videos and listen to the music you want? Are you fed up with seeing new gadgets that only use incompatible and restrictive audio and video formats? Did you know that it’s not a lack of technological know-how that causes this, but software patents and other legal restrictions?
Increasingly proprietary software companies like Microsoft, Apple and Adobe are pushing video and audio formats that restrict access and restrict software developers, but there is an alternative that can be played on all computers without restriction—Ogg.
Ogg provides professional grade multimedia formats. Ogg is used extensively by free software projects, artists and a growing number of music and video distributors.
Soon over a million children and their families will be receiving the One Laptop per Child XO computer designed to play and create Ogg files. By advocating now for Ogg we can help ensure that those children will gain access to, and not be unnecessarily restricted from thousands of educational resources and materials on the web.
Join us in advocating for Ogg right now by taking 4 Easy Steps: Install VLC multimedia player, sign-up for the PlayOgg advocate mailing list, find and share Ogg friendly sites, and put PlayOgg Buttons on your web site or blog. After all that, if you are still looking for more to do, consider encouraging others to do the same.

Macworld Expo News
Rumor has it at the Macworld Expo that iTunes is shedding off it’s ugly DRM annoyances! According to what I’ve read over at ZDnet the 256 kbps AAC DRM-free format will be available for sure in April. The bad news is they are going to have three different formats with price levels (69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29). This is pretty much pointless in my opinion since there is only ONE song and well maybe a remix on some occasions. Currently with there being around ten million songs on iTunes store it will take awhile to convert them all over to the new DRM free format. In April we shall see the changes coming on strong!

VLC Easter Egg
Well one fine December night I was using VLC to play some music and I discovered this…
*You might have to download the image and manually zoom in to see the Santa hat.
Pretty boring I know but it was something! :)
